Time For A Fresh Coat of Paint
A new frontier

A few Major Changes:
Some changes are coming to the newsletter starting this week. A lot of you may have noticed that the “tech focus” has gone down since the start of the newsletter. Honestly, I’m not that interested a tech focused newsletter anymore, and I don’t really like feeling locked into one subject for an audience.
A lot of this started out as my general thoughts on things and putting them out for people to read and in the interest of building the newsletter to reach a larger audience. I took the advice of others and focused on a particular topic. That’s just not fun for me anymore.
So from now on, you’ll never know what you’re going to get from this newsletter and I’m making no promises on how good it’ll actually be. It will continue to be once a week on Fridays however. That is not changing. But it will be whatever pops into my head that week. Probably a lot of life talk, business updates, and general thoughts on various topics.
Hopefully, you all will still enjoy it, but if you’re here strictly for tech, or don’t like the new style from here on out, there are no hard feelings in unsubscribing. There may be some tech stuff here and there but very minimal.
That being said, this will be a much more of an authentically “me” newsletter and I hope you enjoy it! Let’s get into it!
“Comparison is The Thief of Joy”
A lot of us deal with stress. Stress from work, or life, or whatever it may be. One thing I try to keep in mind is “how do I actually feel”? So often we react to situations and circumstances based on what we’ve learned from others and how we’ve been told we should feel. “Aren’t you mad they did that to you?” “If that was me I would’ve punched them!” “How could you let them say that?”
Little by little we feel pressure to react in the same manner that the world does. It creates a feeling of “have to”. “I have to do this so this will happen.” “I have to do that or people will judge me.” “I have to go to school or else I won’t be successful in life.”
The greatest way to combat this is to stop and think about what you truly want and how you truly feel. Well, you might say “Well, Rubin, I don’t know what I want” and that would be fine unless not knowing is causing you stress. Stress comes when you know what you truly want but won’t allow yourself to do it for whatever the external reasons are. Usually, it is because of fear of some form of judgment from others.
When we continually compare ourselves to others, we begin to develop stress and anxiety because we’re not living our lives, we’re living the lives of others. This has become huge in our society ever since the birth of social media. Everyone is starting to try to live the same life and that’s just not going to work out well for us.
The biggest reason I changed this newsletter was because it no longer felt genuine and authentic. That led to feeling like I had to do it a certain way because that’s how newsletters were done. “You find your niche and stick to it. Otherwise, people won’t appreciate the instability and will unsubscribe and your newsletter will never be successful.”
Well, I’m okay with that now. I know there are maybe 4 or 5 people out there who will continue to read the newsletter as long as I write it. But even if everyone unsubscribed, I’d still write for whoever may come across it in the future.
Thanks for being here! Go easy on yourself and do what you truly want to do. Don’t let others run your life and don’t try to live the life of others. You’re great just as you are!
Happy Friday!!!
