Is Samsung the next Apple? Or the next Oura?

Samsung to add wearable health tracking smart rings to their ecosystem.

Apple has one of the best ecosystems in the tech industry today. Macintosh computers, iPhone, iPad, AirPod, AirTag, Apple Watch, Apple Card, Apple TV, and of course the new talk of the town, the Apple Vision headset. They’re also into the media streaming space with Apple TV+, Apple Music, and Apple CarPlay. Something else to note, in true Apple fashion, everything works seamlessly together no matter which group of devices you own.

Samsung also has a pretty decent ecosystem, although not as large. Word on the street is they are speculated to come out with something Apple has yet to add to their elaborate roster. This could be a big move for the Samsung company and the Android community.

However, it won’t be as easy as beating Apple to the starting line. Their main challenge of the near future will be de-throning the current smart ring king, the Oura Ring. As with any wearable tech, it’ll come down to price, compatibility, comfort, and overall user experience to become the leader in the industry.

As a recent Samsung convert, I am interested in this in hopes of getting away from smartwatches while still being able to track my health metrics. The Oura ring with their subscriptions for analytics is a little more than I’d like to spend at the moment. So if Samsung could put out a comparable version without a subscription, I could see this being a hit on the Android side.
