Here’s on of the problems I have with AI.

I did a soft-launch of my business to our town Facebook page. It was a very well put together, and fully thought out, post with links to my website and social media pages. I also tagged some of the popular local small business pages in the post for extra exposure.

The post survived only a few hours before being taken down by Facebook themselves for “spam”. As you can see in the photo above, their “technology” is to blame for the post being taken down. If someone were to have read the post it was clearly promotional advertising and, with social media marketing, the whole point is to get likes, comments, and engagements on your content.

So the problem I have with this system is AI is great for finding little things like this, but it’s often wrong. When it’s wrong, it has to go back to a human under an appeal for review and then that review takes forever. I made the post on Saturday and it was taken down. I appealed the decision that same day. At the time of writing this it is Thursday morning and I still have not heard a word from Facebook.

Normally this would be a non-issue, but since we are moving more and more towards a digital world, not being able to promote or raise awareness for a legitimate cause without it being flagged and removed is concerning.

On the plus side, for those worried about the jobs being taken away by AI. There will probably be a lot more “AI Proof Reader/Reviewer” positions opening in the future!
