Let’s Talk Burnout

People think depression is sadness. People think depression is crying. People think depression is dressing in black. But people are wrong. Depression is the constant feeling of being numb. Being numb to emotions. Being numb to life. You wake up in the morning just to go back to bed again.

Make sure you’re taking care of yourselves out there! This week was a lighter week for me article-wise as you’ll see later on in the newsletter. I’ve also seen many other people online wrestling with burnout this week. My best advice is to remember what’s truly expected of you.

We often try to go above and beyond in our jobs, or personal endeavors, and we end up making that higher standard our baseline. It’s important to remember what’s truly expected of you and officially asked of you. It’s great to push yourself to higher levels of success but don’t let that success cost you your well-being.

Here are 5 things to do instead of burning yourself out:

  1. Catch up on your favorite shows or movies

  2. Catch up on a good book

  3. Get out and do something in nature

  4. Accomplish a small goal such as folding your laundry

  5. Visit family and friends

Drink your water. Eat your vegetables. Have fun. Enjoy life.

Apple Under Fire in Antitrust Lawsuit

As an Apple user temporarily turned Android user, I can kind of see where they’re coming from with this. I don’t think it necessarily warrants a lawsuit though as people are free to make their own decisions at the end of the day. Apple is very good at what they do, and how they create their products, to form such a seamless ecosystem. When I switched, there were many features and ways of life that I had to decide whether or not I could do without. Ultimately, many of the features on Apple are available on Android, just ever so slightly different.

Schools Across the World Battle AI

Working in higher education I have heard about issues like this ever since ChatGPT went mainstream. I see both sides of the coin here with how useful ChatGPT can be. However, I can also see how detrimental it can be to students at any level who take creativity out of their writing processes.
